Hardest to Rehome – Drake
This is our long-term boy, Drake. Drake has been at the PAWS shelter for almost four years and he is still looking for a forever home to call his own. We cannot understand why nobody has offered Drake a home as he is a fantastic boy who holds pride of place as everyone’s favorite for both staff, volunteers and visitors alike. This is due to him being part of PAWS for so long and, also, because he is bursting with so much love and cuddles and this is obvious for everyone he meets. He is a really clever boy and knows the PAWS routine so well, this makes us think he would respond to home-life really well, once his new owner takes the time to help him settle in and give him some basic training. Every morning, on the way to his run, he gives whoever is leading him a big cuddle and ‘good morning’ kiss. He is very clean in his bed and lives for his walks (although he would need some loose-leash training) and his grub, he does a lovely, patient ‘sit’ when he is asked at feeding time.
Drake would need an experienced dog-owner home with no other animals as we think he missed out on some basic training and socialisation as a young pup and because of this he is very reactive towards other animals. However, he did go on a day out with one of our staff last year where he met some other dogs and he responded quite well. This makes us think that with experienced training, his reactions to other animals could be very manageable. This is something we can discuss with any potential future owner for Drake. In return for someone offering Drake a home of his own, he would return the love, loyalty and cuddles tenfold. We really think he would make someone an amazing dog, he just needs someone to give him a chance. Please, get in touch with us if you feel you could be the forever person for Drake. Please contact us or come visit our shelter in Mullinahone. We are open to the public between 2pm and 4pm every day and will be happy to discuss the needs of both you and Drake.
