Huey- The dog that nobody wants

Breed: Lurcher
Huey is one of those dogs who loves people with his whole heart. Huey has spent months in training kennels. Now he just needs love.
Nearly 4 years old. Loves people. Needs an experienced owner and a secure garden.
Huey isn’t an easy dog — but he’s a good one.”
And if we’re honest, we’re starting to worry that he may be one of the dogs people simply scroll past. Some dogs cope with kennel life. Huey didn’t. He deteriorated quickly and we were running out of options.
Another rescue kindly offered to take him into a quieter environment but asked that Huey spend some time in professional training kennels first.
That was only meant to be for a few weeks… but the other rescue have been unable to take him due to kennel space.
It has now been six months…
During that time Huey has been working with his trainer and making real progress. He knows sit and lie down, he’s learning stay, and with careful introductions he has been mixing with medium to large dogs under supervision.
Most of all, Huey loves people.
He is a big energetic boy who enjoys running and playing, but he’s just as happy lying in the sunshine watching the world go by.
The truth is, he is only still with the trainer because the rescue that committed to take him have no space, and the environment here would set him back.
We believed Huey deserved that chance. Unfortunately, that is no longer an option.
Now what he needs is the right home.
• No cats
• To be the only dog in the home (though he can have dog friends)
• Someone around most of the day – he adores human company
We know it’s a big ask.
But Huey has already spent far too long waiting.
If you can’t offer a home, please consider sharing his story. Sometimes the right person is just one share away.
Dogs like Huey often get overlooked simply because people assume someone else will help.
