Maisie and Victor

21st August 2022

In late July, we received some information from our local dog warden regards two lurcher he found alongside three puppies at the side of the road. Discarded like rubbish at the tip, all five canines were in horrendous condition. Particularly the two older lurchers who were emaciated to the bone and covered in mange and open sores. We immediately got them to our vet for care and to begin treatment. A very special thank you for Mo Chara rescue for taking in and caring for the remaining three puppies.  It’s something very special when two rescues come together to work to save animals.

A huge thank you to the dog warden for calling us when he found them. Who knows where they came from or what would have happened to them if they didn’t get the help they needed. We have named them Victor (fawn boy) and Maisie (rough coated). We believe Victor may be visually impaired. It has been three weeks since the call from the dog warden came through and the difference in both dogs is huge.

Our running costs and vet bills currently stand at €60,000 and welfare calls for help or dogs to be surrendered keep coming. We need our supporters’ help now more than ever so we can continue to help dogs like Maisie and Victor. If you can spare anything at all, share this blog post or organise a fundraiser, please do so as we are under extreme pressure. Every little helps a lot.
