The 2022 PAWS wishlist

18th January 2022

While PAWS would like to acknowledge receipt of a grant of €48,500 from the Department of Agriculture in December 2021 towards our running costs for 2022. You will understand that although we are extremely grateful, It is just 10.4% of our running costs for 2021 of €464,557. So in order to make any small improvements, we need your help to make our rescue better. There are some things we need to achieve this year. If you know anyone who can help, please let us know. Not looking for free labour, just fair and professional:

TILES: We have 32 kennels that need wall tiles even half way up the walls). They don’t have to be posh or matching but they are essential to provide proper cleaning.

DRAINS: The current drains are, to say the least, inefficient. They constantly back up and are not suitable for power washing.

MEET AND GREET AREA: At the moment, when people come to meet dogs, they have to interact outdoors in all types of weather. The larger rescues in Ireland have a cosy meeting area. We would be happy with a covered sand arena type of set up, where potential adopters could play with the dogs and see their true, wonderful personalities.

SHUTTERS: Our current shutters between the kennels and the outdoor runs are 15 years old. They desperately need replacing. We have priced new ones with a few companies and quite frankly, the quotes were frightening.

HEATING: We are looking to find an alternative to heat lamps. With 32 kennels it is almost impossible to keep the dogs warm using heat lamps. The same problem arises with fans in the summer. There must be another way.

These are the areas that we need to start on ASAP. There are lots more essential projects to undertake but we have to start somewhere. If you know any suppliers, tradesmen, wholesalers etc who we could get quotes from, or any companies who would be interested in sponsoring a project, please drop a line to info@paws.ie
Thank you.
