Success Stories – Boo Boo finds her forever home

28th June 2020

If you are a regular supporter of the PAWS updates on social media or you have visited our shelter at some time in the past three years, then you will surely know Boo Boo the red staffie cross.  When she first arrived, she was underweight and in poor condition, but it didn’t dampen her perfectly sweet soul and her unconditional love for everyone she meets.  She became so popular on the PAWS facebook page after one of the kennel staff recorded her lovingly trying to rub up against the fence of the dog run and try to give kisses. You can watch it here if you missed it..  https://www.facebook.com/PawsAnimalRescueIreland/videos/630645994354821/

Despite the loving nature of this girl, she had the same burden that so many other bull breeds struggle with in rescue, which is their tough exterior and the bad rep some people associate with these kind of dogs makes finding a home for them so difficult.  The average time it bull breeds spend in rescue awaiting adoption can be up to two years and so many times it can be very unjustified as like all dogs, they all have different personalities and characters and need training and socialisation regardless of their breed.  It was particularly hard to see such a sweet girl like Boo Boo spend so long in the shelter when all she needed was someone to give her a chance.

Any dog that gets booked for a home in PAWS is a cause for celebration but when Boo-Boo had been reserved for a forever home, we could not have been more excited for her to start her new life.  We couldn’t think of any girl who deserved a loving home more! We have since received an update from her new owner to say she is getting on great and they couldn’t be happier with her. We think it’s easy to see in her update photos how much she is loving her new life!
