Success Stories – Nana finds her forever home

23rd February 2020

Sweet, senior lady, Nana, came to PAWS as a confused and sad dog unsure of her new surroundings and in need of some tender loving care. She was so affectionate and it was hard not to fall in love with her.

Senior dogs often find it more difficult to secure a loving, forever home as many potential adopters are more interested in the younger, bouncier puppies in rescue. Older dogs tend to blend into the background in a shelter and get overlooked or take much longer to find a home. It can be so sad to see as senior dogs deserve to live out their twilight years in comfort and warmth with daily love and affection, and Nana was certainly no exception to this. Her little face was full of wisdom and signs of having lived a long life with a twinkle in brown eyes. We worried even more when it turned out Nana needed surgery to remove one of her legs. Our biggest concern was that she would take longer to recover and, although, the PAWS team were willing to do what it would take to have her comfortable and happy while she was on the mend, we were still hoping she would find a home of her own. We were so relieved when someone came forward looking to adopt our beautiful lady and offer her the home of her dreams, complete with a new little terrier friend as a companion.
